ගුවන් හමුදා ඉතිහාසයේ ප්‍රථම වතාවට එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සාම සාධක කටයුතු සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගුවන් හමුදාවේ හෙලිකොප්ටර් යානා හයක් සමඟ හෙලිකොප්ටර් බළ පන්තියක් මධ්‍යම අප්‍රියා ජනරජයේ සහ සූඩානයේ රාජකාරි සඳහා යවන බව ගුවන් හමුදාපති එයාර් මාෂල් කෝලිත ගුණතිලක කියයි.
ප්‍රථම කණ්ඩායම එම් අයි 17 හෙළිකොප්ටර් යානා තුනක් සමඟ වින්ග් කමාන්ඩර් නිපුණ තන්නිපුල්ලේආරච්චිගේ අද (9) පිටත්ව ගියේය.

නිලධරයෝ 17 දෙනෙක් ද, ගුවන් භටයෝ 105 දෙනෙක් ද ඔහු සමඟ ගියහ.
වින්ග් කමාන්ඩර් විශ්ව ශ්‍යාමන්ත දෙවැනි කණ්ඩායමට නායකත්වය දෙයි. ගුවන් භටයෝ 120ක් ඔහු සමඟ යති.

භට පිරිස්, තුවාලකරුවන් , ප්‍රභූන්, ආහාර පාන සහ භාණ්ඩ ප්‍රවාහනය ඔවුන්ට පැවරෙන රාජකාරි අතර වෙයි.

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) will for the first time in its history deploy several air units to United Nations Missions in the Central African Republic (CAR) and South Sudan.
The first air unit comprising three MI-17 helicopters, 17 pilots and 107 airmenm was sent to CAR this morning.
The next contingent to South Sudan will be deployed within a month.
Air Force Commander Kolitha Gunathileke said during the armed conflict in Sri Lanka, the UN asked the SLAF for helicopters for its missions.
“But due the war we were not able to fulfill the requirements but now we are in a position to do so with the necessary machines, equipment and our soldiers,” he said. We will provide support for ground operations especially for troop movements and airlifting commitments,” he said.
Air Vice Marshall Gunathileke said the SLAF has 21 MI-17’s in its current fleet and would be able to manage the usual domestic requirements without delay.
“Giving six of those machines will not hamper our other requirements and commitments,” he said.
CAR has been caught up in a civil war since the mid-2013 and a UN peacekeeping mission is deployed in the country. South Sudan is also facing a domestic political crisis since gaining independence from Sudan.
