​එංගලන්තයේ දෙවන එලිසබෙත් මහ රැජින 1954 දී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට පැමිණ ඓතිහාසික ස්ථාන නරඹා මාතලේ සිට ආපසු කොළඹට පැමිණි ගල් අඟුරු දුම්රියේ එංජිම සහ එතුමිය ගමන් ගත් සුඛෝපභෝගී දුම්රිය මැදිරිය රඹුක්කන ඉදිවෙන දුම්රිය කෞතුකාගාරයේ තැන්පත් කිරීමේ අරමුණින් රඹුක්කන දුම්රිය ස්ථානයට ගෙනවිත් තිබේ.

දෙස් විදෙස් සංචාරකයන්ගේ ආකර්ෂණය දිනා ගැනීමේ අරමුණින් මෙරට දුම්රිය ඉතිහාසයේ යටගියාව මතු පරපුරට දැක ගැනීම සඳහා රඹුක්කන දුම්රිය පොළ ආසන්නයේ ඉදිකිරීම් මේ වනවිට ක්‍රියාත්මක වෙමින් පවතී. රඹුක්කන නගරයේ සිදුවන සංවර්ධනයත් සමග දෙස් විදෙස් සංචාරක පුරයක් බවට පින්නවල අවට ප්‍රදේශ පරිවර්ථනය වෙමින් පවති.


Railway-Musමෙම දුම්රිය කෞතුකාගාරය ඉදිකිරීමේ කටයුතු නාගරික සංවර්ධන අධිකාරියේ උපදෙස් මත මහනුවර සිංහ රෙජිමේන්තු 2 වන බළ ඇණිය සහ ඉංජිනේරු බළකාය මගින් සිදුකරනු ලබයි.
සිංහ රෙජිමේන්තුවේ මේජර් චන්ද්‍රමාලක (ඉංජිනේරු) මහතාගේ මෙහෙයවීමෙන් හා සැරයන් ආර්. බී. ඒ. රූපස්වල මහතාගේ අධීක්ෂණයෙන් යුධ හමුදා ඉංජිනේරු සේවා බළකායේ සෙබළුන් අතින් සිදුවෙමින් පවතී. - sinhalanews

Rambukkana railway museum in Sri Lanka declared open
The restored old Rambukkana railway station and the railway museum were declared open on Saturday evening (27) by Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
The old Rambukkana railway station was built in 1867 when the up-country railway line was augmented to Rambukkana was restored. The cranes, forklifts, trolleys and a host of machinery and equipment used by the engineers to construct the railway line and the train that transported Queen Elizabeth, Duke of Edinburgh Prince Phillip and other members of the royal family to Kandy and Polonnaruwa during their visit to Sri Lanka in 1954 are among other exhibits in the railway museum.The project was implemented by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) with the help of the Railway Department, Department of Archaeology and the Sri Lanka army under the ongoing Rambukkana Urban Development Programme. The government has decided to develop the Rambukkana area as a tourist village, which is in close proximity to the Pinnawala elephant orphanage and the proposed second zoological gardens.
General Manager Railways Wijeya Amaratunga, Sabaragamuwa Province Chief Minister Mahipala Herath, Parliamentarian Kanaka Herath, PS Chairman Atula Handagama, Vice Chairman Udaya Tilakaratne, of the UDA Director General Harshan de Silva and additional Director General Brig. Samantha Jayasundara were present at the occasion.
